IRMA mapped Oxfam’s DRR work to provide a global overview of its portfolio. We identified areas of good practice in programming and advocacy, as well as potential for learning, growth and quality enhancement. The results were used to inform Oxfam’s strategic planning and resourcing process. We included, at their request, an evaluation of Oxfam’s actions in relation to the 2015-16 El Nino phenomenon, to enable Oxfam to measure to what extent it took ‘early action’ to reduce risk for affected populations, and to facilitate even earlier action in slow onset crises in the future.

Development of Guide to Facilitating Community-led Disaster Risk Management
IRMA produced a new guide on how to facilitate community-led DRM for Catholic Relief Services, Caritas Australia and CAFOD. The project involved capturing the lessons learned by experienced DRM field staff, as well as combining traditional tools with new thinking
